Web Application Developer - Part-Time (JavaScript / Python)

Job Description

We are seeking a remote, part-time Web Application Developer with 3+ years of software development experience that includes a strong background in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python. You will work exclusively with our industry-leading, U.S. client building and scaling their machine learning platform and applications.

Our client’s cutting edge data science and machine learning solution helps oil & gas (O&G) companies achieve their environment, social, and governance (ESG) goals with safer, more efficient exploration and production. Their subsurface reservoir modeling and analytics software automates engineering workflows displacing legacy methods of geoscience and drilling analytics. Our client serves the worlds largest O&G companies and is recognized for their advances in improving operational excellence, safety, and environmental sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, engineer, and architect software solutions
  • Interface with developers, data scientists, product managers, partners, customers, and other product stakeholders
  • Translate user stories and feature requirements into functional product that delivers on target value
  • Actively participate in clients culture of continuous improvement
  • Based on interest, capability, and opportunity, work on:

  1. State-of-the-art DevOps, MLOps, and DataOps infrastructure for industry leading data analytics applications

  2. Joint research projects (JRAs) with worlds largest energy operators

  3. Custom software development for key partners and accounts

  4. Interactive data analytics modules within clients flagship web application ecosystem

  5. AWS cloud infrastructure to support real-time data analytics

Experience

Required

  • Excellent English communication skills
  • 3+ years of professional experience developing software with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python
  • Experience building cloud applications and using Python web frameworks, such as Django and Flask
  • Experience with cloud technologies, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), and PostgreSQL or MySQL relational databases
  • Experience building maintainable, testable code bases including API design
  • Fluency in Agile
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in-concert with a broader team developing elegant solutions to hard problems
  • Proven high-quality, on-time delivery experience in a dynamic startup environment
  • Trustworthy, team-oriented, and transparent

Desired

  • University degree in a computer-related degree program, data science, data analytics or equivalent work experience. Will also consider geoscience/engineering professionals with equivalent software development experience.​

  • Familiarity with High Performance Computing (HPC)
  • Some experience with data science and machine learning solutions

  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and RedHat OpenShift
  • Familiarity with CI/CD
