Job Description

We are looking for a remote, full-time Senior Front-End Software Engineer with 5+ years of software development experience. Candidates must have a strong background in React.js as well as GraphQL experience. 

In this position, you will play a foundational role in building the core platform that enables power utilities to shift from decades-old legacy systems into an AI-native future. Candidates must bring working proficiency with AI tools and UI scaffolding to ensure an optimal user experience.

This role requires strong coding fundamentals, system design capability, and the mindset of a builder who thrives in a startup environment. You will work in small, agile teams reporting directly to the CTO, collaborating closely with AI and full stack engineers, security leaders, and product managers. Together, you will build and deliver AI-native services delivered at startup speed.

Our client is building the AI-centric operating system for utilities. It harnesses AI at the enterprise level to better orchestrate customer delight, facilitate power optimization, improve the health of the grid, and unlock flexibility at scale. Funded by a strategic industry partner and one of the founders at Groupon, the client is poised to transform how utilities run and how customers experience energy.

Responsibilities

  • Front-End Development: Work closely with UI/UX designers to build, implement, and maintain scalable front-end applications, ensuring delivery of unparalleled user experiences
  • Architecture: Lead front-end architectural decisions, implementing best practices in performance optimization and responsive design
  • Leadership: Provide leadership within the development team fostering a learning and growth environment
  • System Modernization: Transform legacy workflows into modern, secure, scalable codebases using cloud-native best practices
  • Security & Compliance: Partner with security leaders to ensure all services adhere to stringent utility-sector regulations, implementing secure coding practices by default
  • Agile Delivery: Deliver features and improvements in cycles measured in weeks, balancing speed with reliability

Experience

Required

  • Excellent English communication skills
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience in SaaS or enterprise environments utilizing React.js
  • Experience with GraphQL
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality code in fast-moving teams
  • Basic proficiency with AI/ML tooling (e.g., calling APIs, integrating model outputs)
  • Cloud-native engineering experience (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Clear communicator, adaptable, eager to learn and grow AI capabilities over time
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability in small teams

Desired

  • University degree or relevant industry experience
  • Experience with Python, Golang, Node.js, or Java
  • Experience working on ERP systems or within the power utilities industry
