Senior DevOps Engineer
(GCP / AWS)

Job Description

We are seeking a remote, full-time Senior DevOps Engineer with 7+ years of DevOps experience managing web services and working within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and AWS cloud platforms. You will work for our industry-leading U.S. client fully automating provisioning, deployment, management, and monitoring for a rapidly evolving and highly scalable set of SaaS services. You will work with DevOps team members alongside a DevOps architect to ensure implementation of best practices across applications, lead teams through prioritized initiatives, such as CI/CD and enterprise monitoring, and work on support services operational on the cloud.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the implementation of fully automated, CI/CD patterns using Kubernetes, Spinnaker, as well as other Google Cloud Platform and AWS technologies
  • Collaborate with the Agile software quality Engineering team validating various features and products in the client platform
  • Lead the implementation of monitoring and management solutions for cloud-based products using a combination of commercial, off-the-shelf and homegrown solutions
  • Collaborate with application architects on standardized, scalable methods for managing logs, service elements, and more
  • Design and develop DevOps tools that reduce manual work, improve security, and reduce human error
  • Build resilient, self-scaling systems that minimize customer impacts, while providing a healthy operator work environment

Experience

Required

  • Excellent English communication skills
  • 7+ years of experience managing web services
  • Experience managing Google Cloud Platform (strong preference) and AWS cloud services
  • Experience with multiple GCP services GKE (Kubernetes), VM, Load Balancer, Database, VPC, S3, and more (or comparable services in other cloud environments)
  • Experience with GCP DNS, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code (IaC), such as Terraform or ARM
  • Experience leading CI/CD pipelines developing in GCP, AWS, or Azure cloud environments as well as monitoring and management systems for enterprise, SaaS products
  • Experience writing scripts with at least one of the following: Shell, Python or Golang
  • Knowledge of Databricks
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring and alerting tools, including APM, Splunk, PagerDuty, Prometheus, Grafana, Azure monitoring, and more
  • Experience with Linux distributions, including CentOS, Ubuntu, and Amazon Linux
  • Experience with configuration management, such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, and/or Salt
  • Solid networking experience, including TCP/IP, routing, and DNS
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in-concert with a broader team
  • Willingness to take ownership and find ways to unblock oneself
  • Trustworthy, team-oriented, and transparent

Desired

  • University degree or equivalent educational experience (preferably in a STEM field)
