Job Description

We are looking for a full-time, remote Senior Quality Engineer with 5+ years of experience, including 2+ years using test automation systems. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with product and development teams to drive quality throughout the entire software lifecycle. This role involves defining test strategies and plans, developing and executing test cases, and building automation scripts to ensure high-quality software delivery. The Senior QA Engineer will also analyze system performance and contribute to ongoing automation efforts to enhance testing efficiency and reliability.

Our client provides integrated software and marketing solutions for the hospitality industry, specializing in short-term rental management. Their platform provides vacation rental companies with an enterprise-class Property Management System integrating booking, guest communications, and financial reporting systems – all built with partner organization integrations in mind.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements fully and ensure that test plans, methods, and strategies will cause delivered software to meet or exceed expectations
  • Drive the successful validation of large-scale systems creating test plans, cases, and strategies as well as driving quality assurance processes
  • Develop intelligent and efficient testing strategies to increase dramatically the ratio of internally found defects versus customer-reported defects
  • Design, develop, and maintain automation tests using the chosen frameworks
  • Plan and perform functional, E2E, and regression testing, keeping pace with the Agile team, and reporting and finding issues
  • Provide test summary reports that communicate key quality indicators, risks, and mitigations to leadership
  • Accurately estimate testing requirements for input into planning efforts
  • Enhance the test case library to increase test case coverage
  • Strive to ensure quality releases of software with no production downs and/or critical impediments to users
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior QA engineers

Experience

Required

  • Excellent English communication and collaboration skills
  • 5+ years of quality assurance engineering experience working with web applications and/or SaaS applications in an Agile / Scrum environment with a strong focus on automation
  • 2+ years of experience working with automation frameworks to automate UI and API tests using TypeScript and/or Java, such as Cucumber, Cypress, Webdriver, Playwright, and Karate
  • Experience building and maintaining not only the tests themselves but also the infrastructure that enables the tests
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Fluent in SQL and relational databases, including experience testing relational database-backed applications
  • Familiar with CI/CD (Github Actions preferred)
  • Experience with performance testing and pressure testing
  • Motivation to achieve - must be self-directed with a high degree of initiative
  • Trustworthy, team-oriented, and transparent

Desired

  • University degree or equivalent education (technical or engineering degree is optimal)
  • Programming Languages: JavaScript and Python
  • Others: Postman, Amazon S3, Mailtrap, Sentry, and Testrail
  • Knowledge of AI toolsets and toolkits
