Lead DevOps Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a full-time, remote Lead DevOps Engineer to spearhead the automation and optimization of our client’s operations, leveraging industry stand tools, such as Kubernetes, Terraform, and Docker. Collaborate with our client’s dynamic IT team to ensure system reliability, scalability, and performance.

Our client is a leading provider of commercial refrigeration solutions including innovative software that includes its flagship AI software product that monitors deployed systems, detects issues early, and avoids costly unexpected repairs. The company innovates in their industry with other critical software including field management, customer relationship management, accounting, and additional operational systems.

Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Management: Design, implement, and maintain scalable infrastructure using Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, and Docker in Azure
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Develop, manage, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions
  • Monitoring & Performance: Set up and manage monitoring, alerting, and logging systems to ensure system reliability and performance like Sentry, Prometheus and Grafana
  • Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to integrate new applications and ensure smooth deployment processes
  • Automation: Automate repetitive tasks to enhance efficiency and reduce manual intervention
  • Security: Implement security best practices across all systems and infrastructure
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for configurations, processes, and procedures

Experience

Required

  • Communications: Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Experience: 7+ years in a DevOps role including 5+ years of experience in a Lead DevOps role with a focus on Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, Docker, Azure DevOps, Jira, and GitHub Actions in Azure
  • Kubernetes: Experience with deploying and managing applications in Kubernetes clusters in Azure
  • Networking: Experience with configuring Nginx and Traefik in Azure along with Azure Gateway VPN
  • Terraform: Proficient in using Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC)
  • Helm: Proficient in creating, maintaining, and using Helm chart and repos
  • Docker: Strong knowledge of containerization and orchestration using Docker
  • Azure DevOps: Experience with Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipeline creation and management
  • Jira: Proficient in using Jira for project tracking and management
  • GitHub Actions: Experience with GitHub Actions for workflow automation
  • Scripting: Proficiency in at least one of scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

Desired

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in Kubernetes, Terraform, or Azure DevOps
  • Experience: Previous experience in the advanced monitor and performance tools like Sentry, Datadog, Dynatrace, New Relic or similar
  • Networking: Experience with configuring Istio in Azure
  • Agile Methodology: Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
