Software Engineer
(Ruby on Rails)

Job Description

We are seeking a remote, full-time Software Engineer with 5+ years of software development experience with a strong background in Ruby on Rails and SQL to join the engineering team of our U.S. client for a three-month project with the opportunity to extend longer. In this role, you will build and maintain product features based on customer requirements.

Our client provides a cloud-based ERP platform to hundreds of energy industry customers delivering market-leading field service management, field data gathering, transportation, production, accounting, and land software solutions. Backed by private equity, our client accelerates business performance, improves operational efficiency, and reduces costs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, build, and maintain product functionality
  • Build and enhance products using Ruby on Rails and SQL
  • Provide estimates for new features, enhancements, and bug fixes
  • Document development work clearly and concisely
  • Write and execute tests cases to verify work product quality
  • Perform code review sessions and provide suggestions when appropriate
  • Follow development standards and best practices

Experience

Required

  • Excellent English communication skills
  • 5+ years of software development experience with a strong background in Ruby on Rails
  • Proficient in writing SQL queries against a relational database
  • Comfortable operating in a Linux environment
  • Experience in REST and effective web services design
  • Experience with version control systems, such as Git
  • Willingness to work CST hours on a regular basis
  • Proven delivery experience in a vibrant, dynamic startup environment
  • Trustworthy, team-oriented, and transparent

Desired

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Front-end development experience with Backbone.js and JavaScript
  • Experience with oil and gas revenue accounting, gas processing, crude/gas/NGL transportation, or related fields
